Safe Kids Buckle Up Training This eight-hour class will be offered by Safe Kids Oklahoma in numerous locations around the state beginning in July 2006. Although it is primarily geared for child care providers as an option for the new DHS requirement, advocates from other disciplines (law enforcement, fire, health care, etc.) are welcome to attend.The new DHS requirement is as follows: Effective June 2007, programs providing transportation for children younger than six years of age must have one staff person with current documentation of training in an Oklahoma Department of Human Services (OKDHS) approved child passenger safety course. (A) Information from the training is shared with all other staff who transport children. (B) After May 2007, any staff used to meet this requirement has 60 days to obtain this training. Although child care centers will have one year to comply, this class may be offered only once or twice in your area. Click here for a schedule of classes Once you register for a class you will receive a letter with information on the specific class location, etc. Cost is $25. Registration is limited to one person per licensed child care facility. You may print this form and mail it with your payment to: OU/CCE/Records and Registration, Asp Ave., Room B-1, Norman, OK 73072-6400. You may also register online by following the link below. Click here to register online Maximum class size is 25. Minimum size is 10. Registrations must be received online or postmarked at least two weeks prior to class. Payment must be received in advance, and registration fees are non-refundable. Registered participants will receive a confirmation letter prior to the class.
